Our Story

From a Vision to a Vibrant Waterfront Community
Long before Island Park Woodlands became the neighborhood we know today, this area of South Fort Myers was being promoted for the same qualities residents still value more than five decades later — its natural surroundings, waterways and connection to Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

An original Island Park development brochure offers a fascinating glimpse into the area's beginnings, describing a community centered around Florida living, boating, fishing and waterfront recreation.

Island Park Development Beginnings
Looking toward Estero Bay — circa 1970s
An original Island Park development photograph from a brochure shows Park Road and U.S. 41 in the foreground, with the land south of Park Road identified simply as “Future Development” which would appear to become Tide Water. The Woodlands start at Park Road and develop to the north and east of Island Park Road.
